Tassel is the website platform we are using to collect your ceremony RSVP and your correct name pronunciation as part of the ceremony registration process. All names will be recorded by a professional, which will begin on April 27. Any graduates added to the ceremony after April 27 will have their name read out loud by the Vice President of Academic Affairs at the ceremony.

During this process, you will confirm how to pronounce your name, you can upload a photo and message for a Personalized Graduate Slide, and more. Your Stage Pass will be used to pick up your cap and gown, when you check in at the Sports Illustrated Stadium, and as you are crossing the state at the Commencement Ceremony.

Attention all graduating students! One HCCC graduate will win the opportunity to sing "The Star-Spangled Banner" at HCCC's 48th Commencement Ceremony. The chosen student will receive $250 along with the opportunity to sing in front of HCCC graduates and their guests!

Each graduate will be issued a Stage Pass through Tassel (https://hccc.tassel.com). The Stage Pass is a unique QR code for each Graduate which will be used to check grads into the ceremony and will be scan and used to announce graduate’s names when they cross the stage.
Please make sure you have your Stage Pass ready when you arrive to the Sports Illustrated Stadium. You can add the Stage Pass to your phone’s wallet, or screenshot it for easier access.

HCCC is offering multiple opportunities for you to get your Graduate Portrait taken. Photos will be taken by Island Photography at both the Journal Square and the North Hudson Campuses. There is a $10 sitting fee to get your photo taken. You will have the opportunity to purchase photo packages, if you choose to.
Each graduate will receive two types of photos:
- Graduate Portraits - We will provide the cap, gown, stole, and tassel. You bring any additional items you would want to wear during this photo, such as honor cords and stoles.
- Professional Headshot - You can use for LinkedIn and other professional websites.
Graduate Portraits will be offered on May 1 and May 2. Graduates, check your email inbox for appointment links.

May 1 - Lavender Graduation
On Thursday, May 1 at 6pm, Student Life & Leadership will host our 2025 Lavender Graduation
to celebrate our LGBTQIA+ and Ally graduates of this academic year. The ceremony will
be in person at the Journal Square Campus, Student Center, 2nd Floor Multipurpose
Room, 81 Sip Ave. All graduating students are invited to participate in this event.
Graduates will receive a rainbow stole at this ceremony, which can be worn with their regalia at the HCCC Commencement Ceremony!

May 13 - Kente Graduation
On Tuesday, May 13, at 6pm, Student Life and Leadership will be hosting our 2025 Kente
Graduation, recognizing and celebrating our graduating Black, African-American, and
African students. The ceremony will be held at the Journal Square Campus, Culinary
Conference Center in the First Floor Banquet Room. This event is open to all graduating
students to participate in.
Graduates will receive a traditional, hand-woven Kente stole at this ceremony, which can be worn with their regalia at the HCCC Commencement Ceremony!

May 19 - A Moment In Time: Masquerade Ball | HCCC Commencement Formal 2025
🎭 Join us in celebrating your graduation in style at HCCC's Commencement Formal 2025:
A Moment In Time! This elegant masquerade-themed dinner and dance is dedicated to
this year's graduating students. This special event will take place on Monday, May
19, at the Hudson House located on Chapel Ave. in Jersey City, NJ, from 6:00 PM to
10:00 PM.
All graduates, plus up to one guest, are invited. All attendees must have a ticket. Your ticket includes a four-course meal, a night of dancing, a 360° photo booth, and more — all set against a luxurious black, white, and gold backdrop.

Information about HCCC’s May 21, 2025 Commencement Ceremony
Graduates must arrive by 8:30 a.m.
Guests may start taking their seats at 8:30 a.m. and must be seated by 9:30 a.m.
The ceremony will begin promptly at 10:00 a.m.
Graduates will enter through the Gate B. Graduates will need to have their cap and gowns to enter the area. Guests will enter through Gate C. Guests with disabilities will enter through Gate C1.

Sports Illustrated Stadium is about three blocks from the Harrison PATH train station,
one stop away from Journal Square.

Free parking will be available in the parking lots adjacent to the Sports Illustrated
Stadium located on Guyon Drive and S 5th Street. Spots are available on a first come,
first served basis. Additional free parking is available at the nearby Harrison Parking
Garage.

The ceremony will recognize graduates that completed or will complete their degree requirements during the following semesters: Summer II 2024, Fall 2024, Spring 2025, Summer I 2025, and Summer II 2025. Participation in the ceremony is not required.
Students who are taking their final classes in the Summer 2025 are invited to participate in the ceremony even though they have not completed their final classes. Students must complete all degree requirements, however, in order to receive their diploma.
Graduates are allowed to invite an unlimited number of guests! We want this special day to be celebrated by all who love and support our graduates. There are no tickets required.
Guests will be seated in a General Admission style, seats being filled in a first-come, first-served fashion, regardless of the section listed on your ticket. Accessible Seating is available for guests in various sections.

The graduating class participating in this ceremony will be expected to participate in a procession and a recession.
The procession is the traditional ceremony march at the beginning of the ceremony, where graduates are left by faculty and college dignitaries. The procession will begin at the mid-field point and involves walking to the seats at the end of the field.
The recession occurs at the end of the ceremony, where faculty and college dignitaries lead the graduates out of their seats and off the field, marking the end of the ceremony. The recession will lead students from the seats back to the mid-field point.
When graduates arrive to the Sports Illustrated Stadium, they will be checked in at Gate B by showing their Stage Pass. Please access your Stage Pass and have it ready by logging into your Tassel account at https://hccc.tassel.com.
When graduates enter the Line-Up area, they will be directed to line up within their Academic School. The Academic Schools are: School of Business, Culinary Arts, and Hospitality Management, School of Humanities and Social Sciences, School of Nursing and Health Professions, and School of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. You do not need to line up in a particular order within your Academic School, such as alphabetical order.
There will also be areas to line-up for special cohorts, such as SGA and Club Student Leaders, Early College, Local 825, and Year Up.
There will not be any practice or rehearsal for the ceremony. There will be staff at the ceremony to lead you in the right direction. All you will need to do is follow their directions to get you to the right location, and follow the person in front of you when marching to your seats and to the stage.
In order to receive your diploma and graduate from HCCC, you must pass all degree course requirements. Participating in the graduation ceremony does not automatically mean that you have completed your degree/graduated from the college.
At the ceremony, you will receive a diploma cover. You will not receive your diploma at the ceremony. The Registrar’s Office manually reviews each graduate's degree requirements as final grades are being entered. Once this semester’s students are reviewed and approved, graduates will receive an email from Registrar to let you know that your diploma is ready to be picked up from the Journal Square Campus.
All graduating students will receive a free graduation cap and gown set. A cap and gown set will include a black graduation gown, a black graduation cap, a teal and white tassel, and a teal stole with the college logo.
Recommended Dress and Footwear
Your Commencement Ceremony is a very special day where you will be taking many photos
and be on camera during the live stream, therefore we want you to be dressed to impress.
All graduates will have a cap and gown set that will be worn on the day of the ceremony.
You have the ability to wear honor cords and stoles on top of your gown, both provided
by the college and those that you may have created and customized. While we encourage
you to decorate your cap, you should not customize or alter the gown in any way.
There is no official Commencement dress code, but we encourage you to dress business casual underneath your gown and to be comfortable. Current students can visit HCCC Career Closet if you are in need of free business casual clothes. The event will be a combination of standing and sitting, so make sure you’re dressed comfortably enough for both. Please dress accordingly to the weather, and consider how anything you wear under your gown could impact the way it looks when you zip it up. For example, a puffy skirt is not be the best option.
When entering the arena as the start of the ceremony, graduates will enter mid-field and walk to their seats at the end of the arena. When your name is called, you will need to walk down stairs to cross the stage, and then up the stairs to your seat. Therefore, we highly recommend that you wear comfortable footwear and avoid shoes with high heels, low traction, or shoes that are uncomfortable for you to wear. Commencement Day is not the day to wear new shoes you have never walked in before.
We also recommend that graduates do not bring any personal items with them to their seats, except for their cell phone and small purse/wallet. Graduates are not permitted to chew gum during the ceremony.

HCCC’s various honor societies and leadership opportunities provide items that can
be worn at Commencement. These items will be distributed up until the ceremony in
various methods. Please communicate with the advisor, faculty, or staff member who
oversees the program.

Sports Illustrated Stadium is equipped with accessible parking, seating, closed captioning, and other supports. More information at https://www.newyorkredbulls.com/sportsillustratedstadium/ada.
Accessible seating is available in various sections at Sports Illustrated Stadium, offering wheelchair and companion seating on all levels. There will be ushers and staff on hand to assist guests to these seats.

When completing your Tassel RSVP form, you will be able to submit a photo and message. Den Schülern ist es erlaubt und sie werden dazu ermutigt, so viele Kordeln und Stolen zu ihrer Mütze und ihrem Talar zu tragen, wie sie verdient haben. Die verschiedenen vom College verteilten Schnüre und Stolen sind:
Akademische Schulen
- Yellow Double Cord – Fakultät für Wirtschaft, Kochkunst und Hotelmanagement
- Red Double Cord – Fakultät für Geistes- und Sozialwissenschaften
- Green Double Cord – Schule für Krankenpflege- und Gesundheitsberufe
- Double Blue Cord – Fakultät für Naturwissenschaften, Technik, Ingenieurwesen und Mathematik
Latin Honours (Abschluss mit Auszeichnung)
- Double Gold Cord – Summa Cum Laude (kumulierter GPA von 3.85 bis 4.0)
- Double Silver Cord – Magna Cum Laude (kumulierter GPA von 3.65 bis 3.84)
- Double Bronze Cord – Cum Laude (kumulierter GPA von 3.45 bis 3.64)
Weitere vertriebene Kordeln und Stolen sind:
- Alpha, Alpha, Alpha - Schüler, die in das HCCC-Chapter von Alpha Alpha Alpha aufgenommen werden, erhalten eine dunkelblaue und silberne Kordel.
- Alpha-Sigma-Lambda - Schüler, die in das HCCC-Chapter von Alpha Sigma Lambda aufgenommen werden, erhalten eine weiße Stola mit dem aufgestickten ASL-Logo.
- ESL - Studierende, die am HCCC als Englisch als Zweitsprache-Lernende begonnen und den Weg zum Abschluss abgeschlossen haben, erhalten eine dunkelviolette Kordel.
- Hudson-Gelehrte – Studenten, die ein Hudson-Stipendiat sind, erhalten eine blaugrüne und violette geflochtene Kordel.
- Kente-Abschluss – Studierende, die im Rahmen des Kente-Abschlusses anerkannt werden, erhalten eine handgefertigte Kente-Stoffstola aus Ghana.
- Lavendel-Abschluss – Im Rahmen der Lavender-Abschlussfeier anerkannte Schüler erhalten eine Stola mit der Pride-Flagge.
- Nationale Gesellschaft für Führung und Erfolg (NSLS) – Neuzugänge der NSLS erhalten eine schwarz-silberne Kordel.
- Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) – PTK-Neuzugänge erhalten eine goldene Stola mit dem PTK-Logo und einer goldenen Quaste.
- Sigma Kappa Delta (SKD) – Neuzugänge des SKD erhalten eine schwarz-goldene Kordel.
Das Büro für Studentenleben und Führung ist bestrebt, während des Herbstsemesters und des Frühlingssemesters Möglichkeiten für Absolventenporträts zu planen. Studierende, die ihre Porträts anfertigen, erhalten ihre Nachweise mit der Option, Fotopakete zu erwerben. Das Büro für Kommunikation des HCCC wird diese Geschichten während der Eröffnungssaison den Medien präsentieren und würde sich freuen, von Studenten zu hören, die bereit sind, interviewt zu werden. Einige bemerkenswerte Geschichten aus der Vergangenheit, über die in den Medien berichtet wurde, betrafen Studenten, die:
- Während des Studiums am HCCC mindestens 50 Jahre alt waren
